Welcome! I am John-Allen Smith, a longtime Irish dancer and feis musician. I have created Diddledum.com to offer you a place to purchase my first album, UnReel: Music for Champions. It features 18 tracks of lively, original and entertaining dance music at speeds suitable for championship dancers, plus the newest set dance, Planxty Hugh O'Donnell, 70, and also Drunken Gauger, 67.
I am proud to have danced with the Bracken School of Irish Dance, winning several Oireachtasaí and even the North American Irish Dance Championships (2006, San Diego). I also placed 3rd in the World Championships (2008, Belfast).
In addition to the dancing, I have always had a passion for music and am glad to be able to share it with you through this album. In addition to this album, I have two Irish dance albums scheduled for release in 2012. The first album will cater to the beginner dancer, and the instructor as well. It will include tracks at traditional speeds, as well as tracks at slower tempos to provide music for young or less-coordinated dancers that would otherwise not be able to gain experience dancing with music. The second CD I plan to release in 2012 will be a follow-up album to UnReeL: Music for Champions. Both CDs should be released late-summer/early Fall 2012.
